Instructors can create groups for students to collaborate on group Assignments and Discussions, use Web-conferencing, and Collaborations for online projects. Workshop: Course Design in Canvas
Participants will learn how to design courses in Canvas, facilitate easy and intuitive course navigation and pace instruction. This workshop will highlight the mechanics and pedagogy behind Homepage, Syllabus, Content Pages and Modules in Canvas. Participants will learn about best practices for creating, organizing and structuring content in Canvas courses.
Research Workshop: Submission software training
The Office for Responsible Research will transition to a new electronic system for submission, review, and maintenance of Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) and Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) applications. The a-tune tick@lab system will go live in early 2018, integrating research, teaching and testing protocols, animal procurement and management, as well as veterinary medical records.
Data Management Planning: An Introduction

Assignments are a backbone of the course's Gradebook in Canvas. Participants will learn to create and manage Assignments and Assignment Groups as well as explore how the Gradebook is connected to the organization of Assignments. Participants will experience the power of SpeedGrader for efficient and effective grading.

Workshop: Preparing Successfully for Promotion and Tenure
Designed for new tenure-eligible faculty, this is an introduction to ISU's expectations and guidelines for promotion and tenure, as well as what makes a strong promotion and tenure case. There will be time for Q&A and discussion.
Meeting: Top Hat question and answer session
Zhi Hui Tai, a Top Hat representative will be on campus to answer questions about Top Hat, an interactive teaching platform standardized at ISU. Zhi welcomes questions about the new Top Hat functionalities, such as tournaments (course gamification), teams, secure attendance and content pages.

Participants will learn how to use Quizzes in Canvas. The workshop will focus on practical ways to customize Quiz Settings as well as create and administer Quizzes with a variety of question types to accommodate specific learning situations. Quiz Moderation and Analytics will be also explored.
Getting Started with EndNote Web
Lost the references you need for your research paper? Thesis and dissertation citations becoming unmanageable? This workshop for beginners introduces EndNote Web, a free bibliographic management program that helps you collect, organize, format, and use your collected citations in your writing projects. "Human Research Basics Series: Informed Consent." This four-part series looks more closely at the various components of the IRB submission process. In this session you will learn about the informed consent process, which includes participant recruitment and the informed consent document.
