Opening remarks will be provided by ACLU of Iowa Legal Director Rita Bettis and Corey Saylor, the head of the Council of American Islamic Relations (CAIR) Department to Monitor and Combat Islamophobia. He is a national expert on countering Islamophobia and co-authored CAIR’s Islamophobia report, Confronting Fear. Students and others on campus are then invited to share their own concerns, ask questions and help raise awareness about resources available on and off-campus during this uncertain post-election period.
Clark Wolf, Iowa State professor in philosophy and political science and director of the Bioethics Program, will moderate the discussion. Additional resource people will be available to respond during the question-and-answer period, including Department of Public Safety Interim Police Chief Aaron Delashmutt and City of Ames Police Chief Chuck Cychosz.
