About Flow:
Using sensor technology developed by company director Valerie Williams and Steve Holland ISU aerospace engineering, the stage has become a smart environment that responds to the dancer. Dancers have a direct conversation with, and immediate impact on, music and lights while they are dancing. It is a new kind of collaboration among musician, choreographer, dancer and technology.
About Lullabies:
Many classic lullabies are paired with the graceful, skilled movement stylings of the CMDT dancers. The dances are meant to reflect the subtext of the lullabies from around the world, and perhaps answer the question: How do we relate to babies and children?
Valerie Williams' Co'Motion Dance Theater is in residence in the kinesiology department.
