The event underscores the important link between basic academic research and real-world medical application, which embodies the core values of the University's new Health Research Initiative. This symposium will be of interest to veterinary doctoral students, pre-med majors, and students with neuroscience/neurobiology emphases. Registration is free to ISU faculty, staff, and students; please RSVP to http://doodle.com/6dw9zhfttx4vcqb4 by May 12.

Hosted by the Iowa State University Office of Biotechnology, and the College of Veterinary Medicine's Biomedical Sciences (BMS) Department, along with the Iowa Center of Advanced Neurotoxicity (ICAN), and the Center for Advanced Host Defenses, Immunobiotics, and Translational Comparative Medicine (CAHDIT).

The symposium is being held in honor of Professor Emeritus Jim Bloedel, who has served ISU as Vice Provost for Research and Advanced Studies (2000-05) and as a Chair of BMS (2007-11). This event will highlight Dr. Bloedel's career achievements and contributions to the field of neurobiology.
