Invited speakers will cover economics, research and applications of rare earth metals. Mark Smith from Molycorp will be giving the keynote address. Speakers from Arnold Magnetic Technologies, Etrema Products and GM will also give invited talks. Registration is free, deadline is April 1. Sponsored by the local chapter of the Materials Research Society.

ISU graduate students are encouraged to participate in the student poster session in the afternoon. We welcome any technical posters on student research relating to scientific or economic aspects of materials science. Poster topics do not need to relate to rare earth materials, and we welcome previously presented posters. An award for the best poster will be presented.

The MRS local chapter Spring Symposium is sponsored by the Materials Research Society with support from the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, the Department of Chemistry, the Department of Physics, the MBA Program, and the Department of Energy's Ames Laboratory.
